The Sage 14U – White team is committed to fostering a love of softball, building strong fundamental skills, promoting sportsmanship and camaraderie, and working to achieve each player’s highest potential inside and outside of the game. We emphasize integrity, dedication, focus and hard work, encouraging each player to try to improve every time out on the field. We expect the team to grow from both victories and defeats, and we hope each player will give their all for the team, seeing every challenge as an opportunity. We also want the team to have fun!
We have been playing together since we began as a Sage Futures team, when several of our players were 9 years old. As a 10U C team, we won the USSSA Virginia State Tournament, and during our 11U season we began competing at the 12U B Level, where we compete today. We began the Spring/Summer 2022 season winning the 12U B Championship at the Kickoff Klassic in Central Maryland, and we played a slate of 10 tournaments in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Tennessee, including the Virginia State Championships and USSSA Music City Nationals in Nashville. We practice at natural grass and turf fields in Arlington, Va., including at Yorktown High School, Washington-Liberty High School, Wakefield High School and Gunston Park.
We have partnered with Marymount University’s softball team, which is
in its inaugural season playing DIII softball in Arlington in 2022. Active
Marymount players have attended Sage practices, working with our
team on mechanics, skills and game strategy. Marymount Head Coach
Paige Knussman also has provided hitting instruction to our Sage
players – both as a team and in one-on-one sessions at our practices
and at Marymount University’s facilities. It has been a rare opportunity
to receive guidance from a current college coach and to interact with current, high-level college players.

Coaching philosophy: You get out of it what you put into it: Players and coaches who have a positive attitude, have fun, and dedicate themselves to improvement can accomplish great things together.
