The 16U Foote Sage team is a competitive travel fastpitch softball team affiliated with the Arlington Girls Softball Association (AGSA). The coaches believe that participating in competitive team sports like travel softball provides an excellent way for young women to learn leadership and decision-making skills, responsibility, sportsmanship and teamwork, while also having fun. We are dedicated to working with each player to help her reach her full potential and to give our players the opportunity to showcase their talents in competitive tournaments.
The team intends on competing at the 16U "B" level for the 2019-2020 season and will be made up of girls born on or after January 1, 2005.
Natalie played travel softball for 6 years in Texas, and 4 years on her high school varsity team. She played third base and set the single season record at her Division V high school for stolen bases in a single season. She has been coaching at the rec, all-star and travel levels for 9 years. Natalie has four children, is a licensed clinical social worker, and the executive director of Restoration Immigration Legal Aid in Arlington. Coaching Philosophy: We aim to win by prioritizing softball fundamentals, sportsmanship and teamwork. We want to challenge young women to become the best athletes they can be in the context of a supportive and encouraging environment. Win or lose, we work hard and have fun.
John has been coaching softball since 2012, including several years as head coach of Arlington’s Summer All-Star (Spirit) teams at the 10U and 12U level. He also coaches baseball and basketball. John loves to coach, and enjoys teaching athletes how to be better and love the game. While he is way over the hill now, he grew up playing baseball and was fortunate to be part of two VA state championship teams, and one VA state runner-up team. He also played basketball and was recruited to play in college. His goal as a coach is to help each athlete meet her goal(s), whether that is getting better at a particular skill, making a high school team, or playing in college.
